Rachel Miller interned with SCM Architects in 2005 while pursuing her undergraduate degree. After she obtained her Masters in Interior Architecture, Rachel joined SCM Architects full time in 2008. Her expertise in historic preservation has made her an indispensable team member on the multiple preservation projects underway at SCM Architects. Rachel’s thesis work at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, focused on the social and architectural evolution of 6 downtown Little Rock churches. From log restoration and historic paint analysis, to historic structures reports and limestone repairs, Rachel has enhanced the firm’s ability to address a variety of issues unique to preservation with a sensitivity to the irreplaceable historic fabric. She is currently pursuing NCIDQ licensure.

A frequent conference speaker, Rachel presented at the Vernacular Architecture Forum Annual Conference in Fresno, California on digital photogrammetry & 3D modeling and their implications for digitally recording the built environment. She has also presented a paper at the SESAH Annual Conference (South Eastern Society of Architectural Historians).

For the academic year 2007-2008, Rachel was named Graduate Student of the Year for the Deptartment of Interior Architecture.

Rachel Spent a year as a nanny in Switzerland and traveling Europe, and enjoys knitting, photography, traveling in her free time.

Rachel is impacted by the words of Winston Churchill, who said, "We shape our environments; thereafter they shape us."
